RAS carries out funded research on a number of sub-fields of intelligent robotics, mostly mobile systems. RAS houses a number of custom and premade mobile robots and other robotic systems. RAS research concentrates on industry and funding organizations funded projects and education. It provides students and researchers with an opportunity to work on cutting edge robotic technologies and in the development of new robotics applications. Most of the work done in the lab is on robot and automated systems controllers, control software, perception, navigation and path planning of autonomous or semi-autonomous systems.

The Akadimia Rompotikis (Robotics Academy) was developed to offer robotics courses to students from the community, such as students and teachers from the K12 levels of education and other adults interested in the field of robotics. The Academy offers courses for various robotics packages (i.e. Lego Mindstorms, VEX Robotics Systems), robot building, robotics programming, using robotics as an educational tool at the K12 levels of education, and preparing students to participate in local and international robotics competitions. The courses are offered at the campus of Frederick University in Lemesos. In addition to the courses offered, the website of the Robotics Academy offers online curriculum material for teachers that want to introduce robotics at their schools, online documentation for learning basic robotics concepts, mobile robotics building instructions, robotics programming documentation, and other material for anyone interested in the field of robotics.
