Dr. Ashraf Bassily is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Frederick Institute of Technology. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2005. Prior to this appointment he was a Lecturer at Gharian University (2001-2005) and a Research and Teaching Associate at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Iowa State University, Iowa, USA (1996-2000). He received Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, USA (2000) and his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, USA (1995). He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and is recognized as a Professional Engineer by the Institute of Engineers, Australia.
He reviews papers for the Drying Technology Journal. He has over 14 scientific publications in referred Journals and International Conferences. He is the sole author of 8 published papers. He has many patents on innovative power cycles and techniques for clothes drying. His research work has dealt with modeling and optimization of energy systems and drying process as well as theoretical and experimental heat and mass transfer.
